John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs that he wrote, many of them set in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in the love of Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver was by far one of the top artists who represented Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. You meet people in other nations, for instance New Zealanders. They say "I am Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" and they immediately respond with Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff composed the song for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential after hearing it first. The song was performed at Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver recorded it just days afterward.
